How billing and usage limits work
ZephMatrix limits are enforced by the platform so teammates don't silently exceed budgets. Today, most accounts operate with a single workspace.
AI credits & limits
Plans include an AI credits limit (1 credit = 1,000 model tokens). AI credits are derived from provider-reported token usage (input/output/cache) and are enforced on a monthly basis, plus optional daily safety throttles to prevent abuse/spikes.

Approvals and safety
Many teammate actions are approval-gated. When billing or tool access blocks an action, the platform returns a structured error instead of letting the teammate over-claim success.
Stripe configuration
In self-hosted/dev environments, upgrades require Stripe to be configured (for example viaSTRIPE_SECRET_KEY). When Stripe is not configured, billing pages still show plans and limits, but checkout actions are disabled.
